Measured vs reference

What the measured flag means and when a value falls back to a reference source.

Coinmico runs its own trade feeds from 50+ centralised exchanges and indexes swaps directly on-chain. A number is measured when we computed it from those trades ourselves. When we could not — a thinly traded asset with no prints in the window, or data we do not produce such as ETF flows — the number is reference data from a named external source, and the response says so.

How it appears

measured: true
Price or volume computed from our own trade feed within the last window.
measured: false
Taken from a reference provider. Treat as indicative.
source
On OHLC and some series: coinmico, or the provider name.
coverage
On charts: partial when our history is shorter than the window requested.

Why it matters

Most market-data sites publish exchange-reported volume, which exchanges can inflate. Measured volume counts the trades we actually saw, after excluding markets that fail our integrity checks (the exclusions are visible per market in /v1/coins/{id}/markets). Showing the flag lets your users tell the two apart.
